Perfect Strangers

Listening to Margaret Wakeley's life-affirming CD "Perfect Strangers" is like spending an evening with a dear friend with a glass of wine, a fire, and a snowstorm outside. The songs, cleverly arranged in thematic pairs, convey an intimate portrait of a life reviewed, in all its joys and sorrows, funny moments and poignant discoveries, archetypal emotions and minutely observed quirks, love found and lost.

Quality Times

From somewhat wistful to amusing selections, “Quality Times” plumbs a wide variety of moods with Wakeley’s flawless technique and a rich, buttery contralto. A relaxed technique that leaves room for some delightful unexpected changes of pace and skittish turns suggests she really knows what the words mean as well as how they should be sung.

Hard to Leave the Island

Re-released by U.K.’s Warm Agency in the summer of 2020, these tracks are taken from “Better Days,” Margaret’s first album of original songs. Both tracks sail along with a flow that shows Margaret’s true musicianship and individuality. Sounding as relevant today as they did in the 1970’s and early 1980’s they have truly tried the test of time.
